🎵 The Knife - Silent Shout (2006)
Some people feel a little self conscious when a band they’ve never heard of is brought up, and it may be better for the flow of conversation to just pretend to know them, but I live for it. If an artist comes up with heavy praise, and I haven’t heard of them, it means I have some exploring to do.
Sometimes these situations reveal a huge gap, an incredible record that’s managed to avoid your ears for unknown reasons. That’s exactly what happened when Harrison told me about this eerie electropop album from The Knife and I haven’t stopped listening since.
Silent Shout is dark, cold, spooky, but most of all, its bangin’. Kind of like you married Ladytron with Burial or something. It’s got long relatively quiet & sparse tracks such as “The Captain”, lush but haunting cuts like “Marble House”, and bonafide bangers like “Like A Pen” that’ve become staples in my DJ set.
Give it a listen and enjoy.
Have a nice day 🫶
