🎳 Candlepin Bowling
There’s a strong chance that if you didn’t grow up in New England, you’ve probably never heard of Candlepin Bowling.
Basically the pins are smaller and so are the balls, you get three throws, and the pins aren’t cleaned up until the frame is complete so you can hit them to do fun things.
It’s really hard and weird,…and less satisfying than regular bowling if I’m being honest, but I love charming n’ weird local traditions like this. They should be kept alive forever and ever.
Last night Youtube suggested this video of the iconic 1986 face-off of Stasia Czernicki and Beth Peterson, two incredibly skilled athletes and legends. Stasia is apparently known as the best candlepin bower of all time.
I watched the entire thing at 2am and I hope you do the same.
Have a nice day 🫶
