šµ THE NEW SOUND
I did a little Interview Mag thing today where I plugged this playlist.
It features a lot of the artists from our stage at the NYC BEAT SXSW showcase such as The Hellp, Snow Strippers, MGNA Crrrta, Club Eat, Damon Rush, etc. The music is inspired by synth punk, artists like Crystal Castles, electroclash, and pop music from the late 2000s, but their take on these influences is distinctly fresh and new.
Itās only a matter of time until thereās some lame Spotify Playlist that puts a name to this new genre, but until thenā itās not āindie sleaze revivalā, itās simply THE NEW SOUND.
Have a nice day š«¶

Weird how none of these bands are getting much coverage from established music press (outside of the dazed article). Not complaining (a little gatekeeping now and again keeps the annoying people away) but it is strange how pitchfork is seemingly deliberately ignoring The Hellp. I guess it makes sense since they spent like the last decade heavily invested in an editorial perspective that is totally at odds with the appeal of this band.
