Weird how none of these bands are getting much coverage from established music press (outside of the dazed article). Not complaining (a little gatekeeping now and again keeps the annoying people away) but it is strange how pitchfork is seemingly deliberately ignoring The Hellp. I guess it makes sense since they spent like the last decade heavily invested in an editorial perspective that is totally at odds with the appeal of this band.
Exactly- that's kind of why I'm using the little platform I have to try to push these groups at things like SXSW. It's definitely strange how allergic the mainstream music press is to covering an exciting & new sound like this. You're right though, maybe it's better off being kept outsider and gatekeepy, but The Hellp signing to Atlantic seems to indicate things will change.
